Christy Lai, one of the designers over at Colorcubic (under the guise of Wolfe+585) has put together a couple of fantastic mixes so far for her Colortones series that embody a surprisingly non-digital feeling. It is a feeling that parallels the now seemingly old-fashioned notion of the mix tape. For any of us that spent time creating mix tapes and discs for friends/lovers/etc back in the day, we know all too well the time spent crafting that perfect track list and – at least for the true mix tape connoisseur – the hand made art that went along with it.
The Colortones series embodies that feeling so well, carrying over a certain level of nostalgia and leaving a lasting mark on you. Christy has perfected the mix and has also created art for it that brings the entire piece together – defining moods, tones and colors with each successive track. Oh, and Christy – If you need a muse for your next mix – I’d be happy to fill that position.
